Apocalypse Skills (2024), Crocheted cotton polyester & Lamented Text.
Apocalypse Skills explores the devaluing of processes and techniques that have been categorised as ‘hobbyist’, ‘domestic’ or ‘feminine’.
The work combines my crocheted garments with screenshots of Tumblr threads, in which users are discuss how essential many of these skillsets are for survival, but in the age of mass production and consumerism, they have been reframed as unimportant, worthless skillsets to possess in the present day.
